March 30th, 2010

After 2 previous meetings these girls were no strangers to each other , and both teams knew how each team played . Both teams started strong , after 5 minutes into the game SCA found their feet and started playing football like they had been doing over the past month .  The passsing was precise and the communication between the girls was loud .

With the first half well on its way the girls really took control . The opposition did’nt make it easy for our girls , but they were no match for Lauren who took control of the ball down the wing and with Shannon in her sights made a superb pass through the centre and Shannon was able to deliver an excellent finish . These 2 girls worked well together and the 2nd goal was followed shortly after when Shannon did a short pass to Lauren , Lauren to Brodie and Brodie finding the bottom corner of the net . There were a few near misses by both sides and Kirsty delivered an excellent save when the opposition caught us off guard , but with Kirsty being switched on was able to get her fingers on the ball and Sara cleared it . With the first half almost over the girls were still pushing forward , with just a minute to go Sara delivered a perfect corner into the box and Nikki delivered a lovely touch into the net making the half time score 3-0 .

Second half kicked of to a flying start and the girls were straight in from the off , 5 minutes in and the same amount of goals has the first half had already been scored  . The goals were all delivered by Shannon who showed excellent skill and focus on all deliveries and the score was now 6-0 .  The excellent display of football did’nt stop and the girls showed determination the whole time . Rosie was deprived a goal after her free kick hit the post and went just over the top . Nikki delivered goal number 7 after a corner kick from Brodie . With such a good game and a few near misses Sara was determined to get a goal and again with excellent passing from Shannon seconds before the end of the game Sara managed to deliver an excellent goal which went straight over the keeper and finishing the game 8-0 .

With such an excellent display of footall and such precise passing of the ball throughout the game Shannon well deserved the Person of the Match .

March 21st, 2010

It was grey , damp and breezy but the weather was no contest for these 2 teams . SCA won the toss and kicked off what was a gonna be a good game . SCA started well and showed great passing with a number of good short passes . SCA showed an excellent display of football from the off and had 3 early chances . The first was from Shannon but the goalie managed to get her fingers on it and the 2nd and 3rd was from Brodie both just going wide of the goal . This did’nt stop the girls though and the 1st goal came just 10 mins into the game with a superb pass from Sara to Nikki and Nikki just chipping it past the keeper . The 2nd goal again was a great assist by Sara who did an excellent pass to Nikki , Nikki back to Sara and back to Nikki to score . The oppossition continued to put pressure on the girls and made sure that they were working to get the ball , but the girls were showing some magnificant football and whenever they had possession they really made use of the space . Kelly scored the 3rd goal after a lovely run down the wing from Lauren and a through ball to Kelly right in the penatly box allowing her to chip it straight past the keeper . The first half finished SCA 3 -0 .

Second half started like the first with the excellent passing and full use of the pitch . If the girls could’nt get the ball passed the oppossition then they would use Rosie in defence to get the long balls forward . The Leafield keeper made a number of excellent saves and really stopped our girls adding to the score but she was unable to get a hand to the 4th goal by Lauren which was delivered into the bottom right corner .

With the oppossition still pushing forward SCA still managed to show determination and continued to show some superb football . With Sara assisting 2 goals in the first half it was now her chance to get a goal herself . With Sara and Brodie working well together with small passes back and forth to each other Sara was able to get into position to deliver an excellent finish . With the second half almost coming to an end Shannon managed to chip a ball straight through the defence and straight passed the keeper to end the game SCA 6-0 . This was an excellent game and both teams displayed some really good football .

With such excellent football played by all , Person of the Match was very close but again with an excellent all round game Rosie pipped the others at the post .

Coventry City March 20

March 21st, 2010

This was to be the 3rd league game this season between the teams with 1 win each, both of each very closely fought,  so the safe pre-match money was on a draw.

In a similar fashion to last week’s clash most of the action took place in between the 18 yard boxes with both goalkeepers coping comfortably with whatever came their way.

Hannah Tromans pulled off a fine save towards the end of the first half to deny Coventry the upper hand and a Albion attack saw the ball flash across the goal without a forward being able to apply the finishing touch which was probably about the only real goalmouth action in the first half.

The second half continued in much the same vein but Albion were unlucky to have a goal chalked off for offiside when Jade Sinclair stroked home a fine pass from Katie Grainger. The view from the touchline was that this was a fair decision but this, in spite of much pressure and probing, was probably the only real attempt on goal in the second half.

Ultimately, it proved to be a another very tight game between 2 evenly matched sides with both defences giving away very little , and having the upper hand, in an extremely tight , but entertaining encounter.

Final score 0 – 0

13.03.10 Redditch B ( Double header )

March 14th, 2010

What a better way to spend your Saturday morning than with a bit of Home & Away !( and no I dont mean the Australian TV soap .) No I mean SCA and Redditch doing a double header to play catch up on the games that have had to be postponed due to bad weather .

The first game was on the way and even though the girls were very quiet the football was still has good as ever .There was a few near misses within the first 5 minutes but then it happened and Shannon was the first to score after a well delivered ball from Sara . Shannon was well on form and with her 2nd shot rebounding off the post Nikki was there to put it straight in the back of the net .With the girls in full flow the 3rd goal did’nt take long with another excellent delivery from Sara , Lauren had a superb touch and delievered a perfect goal .The goals continued and with Sara having such a good game she finished the first half with a hatrick and the score was 7-0 .

The second half started just has good as the first finished and Sara was on a roll with another 3 goals within the first 5 minutes . Nikki delivered another excellent goal and the score was now 11-0 but with Rosie moving forward and showing excellent pass with the ball she found the net on both occassions and finished the first game 13-0 .

Goal scorers Rosie(2) ,Nikki (2),Shanon(1),Lauren(2) and Sara (6)

With an excellent display of football throughout the game and a double hatrick a well deserved Person of the Match goes to Sara .

With one game down and another to go there was a few changes made . Brodie went in goal and Kirsty moved up front . The game was off to a flying start and within the first 5 minutes Nikki had scored a hatrick and Sara delivered another good goal . Now it was Kirsty’s time to show how she is just has good with her feet as she is with her hands and saving goals .She did’nt just score 1 goal but she scored the next 5. Nikki finished the first half with another 2 superb goals and first half finished 11-0.

With a splendid first half it was time for the next half. Kirsty with a good first half under her belt  retired back to goal . Rosie was the first to score and Brodie soon followed after an excellent long throw in from Sara . Lauren then followed with another chip in and Brodie delivered another 2 goals after that . The second game finished the same as the first game started and that was with a well deserved goal for Shannon who managed to keep full control of the ball all the way from her own half passed the opposition and straight passed the goalie . Final score 17-0.

Goal scorers Kirsty(5),Rosie(1),Brodie(3),Nikki(5),Shannon(1),Sara(1),Lauren(1)

With just as good as performance as the first game and always being ontop of her game Person of the Match goes to our small but mighty Shannon .

Coventry City March 13

March 13th, 2010

Another hard fought encounter against a Coventry side who held the psychological upper hand after 2 previous victories against the Albion this season. In a very tight game, most of the action took place in between the two 18 yard boxes with little goalmouth action to speak off but Albion did have a goal chalked off in the first half for an offside decision.

The second half followed the pattern of the first in that it was very tight but midway through the second half Jade Sinclair’s lightening pace took her away from the Coventry defence , she beat the on rushing goalkeeper to the loose ball and managed to poke the ball home.

A deserved Albion victory which keeps them in the hunt for the league title.

06.03.10 Knowle – Cup Semi Final (Home)

March 7th, 2010

It may have been a Semi Final and nerves should have been slightly higher than normal , but the girls were cool , calm and collective . The parents on the other hand were all Oooh’s and Aaah’s and that was just in the first 5 minutes . No sooner had the ball gone into play the girls were straight in and the opening minutes saw a number of sublime passes that all went just wide of goal . The first was from a throw in and and an excellent shot by Brodie ,the 2nd was a cross in from Sara to Nikki and the 3rd was when Nikki’s shot rebound and Kelly’s touch was just slightly off target .

With such a good start and the girls having full focus the football just got better. The passing was precise and space was well utalised.Shannon was the first to score  after a chip in from Nikki , Shannon made use of the space and delivered a superb finish. This did’nt stop the oppositon though and they were really making the girls work.Kelly was next to score and after receiving a long ball from Brodie , Kelly found herself under pressure with the defence fast on her tail but she pushed on and chipped the ball straight past the keeper .

The girls made full use of the pitch and really opened it up by using the line to get long balls well delivered to the girls up front. This proved to work when Brodie did a long ball to Nikki and with Nikki knowing where her players were managed to pass a short ball to Kelly enabling her to get her 2nd goal .With the first half almost finished there was a few more near misses.Rosie had an excellent shot from almost half way but it was just chipped over the post. Shannon finished the first half SCA 4 Knowle 0 when she delivered another superb goal .

Second half and the girls were just as relaxed as the first .The opposition had really upped their game and the keeper was well on form saving a number of excellent shots , this also applied to Kirsty who had had a quieter first half . The opposition had a few shots at goal but Kirsty was well on form and managed to get a hand on all of them .With the girls using their UNBELIEVABLE TEKKERS thoughout the whole game Shannon managed to score another 2 goals . Both goals were finished with superb technique. The 1st was a pass down the line from Lauren and the 2nd was a rebound from Sara’s shot. The girls comtinued to push on before the final whistle was blown and after a superb display of football the game finished 6-0 .

All the girls played well and Person of The match would have been a hard decision to make but with a really on top performance and an excellent shot that just managed to go marginally high there is one girl that stood out just that little more and that was Rosie .

Goal scorers : Shannon (4) , Kelly (2)
