Leafield (A)

April 25th, 2010

Another weekend, another big game and has been the recent trend, another slow start.

The only difference this week, was that the slow start lasted longer than usual. It was at least 30 minutes before Albion managed to get out of their own half having been put under immense pressure from Leafield from the off.  In fact it was only some superb keeping from Tromans that kept the scores level after half an hour,  having earlier thwarted 3 clear one on one chances.

As the first half drew towards a close, Albion finally started to get to grips with the hard, bobbly pitch and managed to force  2 corners in quick succession, the second resulting in the opening goal when Natalie Carless managed to apply the final touch to put Albion 1 up, very much against the run of play.

The second half saw Albion kicking up the Leafield slope and this was a much more even half with chances coming at both ends without either side being able to convert any of the opportunities created.

With 5 minutes remaining a tangle of legs just outside the 18 yard box, resulted in giving  Leafield a direct free kick. An excellent delivery saw the ball beat Tromans in the Albion goal to tie the scores at 1 – 1. In fairness to Leafield it was no more than they deserved and the game fizzled out thereafter to finish at 1 -1.

Not the result that Albion wanted before the game started but that’s football.

April 19th, 2010

With the sun shining and lovely surroundings you could’nt ask for a  better location for an early morning kick off . SCA were in full spirits and were ready from the off . With first half kicking off to a great start there were a few near misses . Sara had a lovely chance within the first 5mins but was denied when it just went wide . The first goal was superbly delivered after a lovely corner shot from Brodie into Lauren , who controlled the ball well and with a short pass through to Shannon , Shannon finished with a lovely strike . There were another two near misses first from Sara who hit the cross bar and Nikki’s went just to high over the top . With so many near misses the 2nd goal soon followed and after a lovely long ball through from Nikki to Lauren , Lauren had a lovely shot and the strike was spot on and straight in the bottom corner . After so many near chances Sara’s determination proved successful when she delivered a beautiful ball from Lauren allowing her to get the ball into the back of the net . The opposition continued to pressure the girls but with the first half coming to an end the score finished SCA3-0 .

The second half started off with a few position changes and with new signing Katie up front and Rosie dropping forward the 2 worked well together , Katie had a lovely chance at goal but just fell short but Rosie was there to finish it off and bring the score upto 4-0 . Brodie had a lovely shot from just outside the box that was denied by the keepers finger tips getting on it and sending it wide . With the girls continuing to be pushed by the opposition the girls managed to keep controll and communicated well . The 5th goal again was  from a short corner kick from Lauren to Brodie and Brodie then chipping it into the box where Shannon headered it straight passed the keeper . Lauren followed with another superb finish shortly after and Shannon managed to deliver another excellent finish and earned herself a hatrick . With the game still having plenty of time to go Katie had another shot denied when it went wide . Kirsty had a quiet game until the death when the opposition delivered an excellent corner  but Kirsty was well switched on and managed to get both hands on it . Whistle blown and the score finished SCA 7-0 .

With such an excellent game and lovely deliveries on all 3 goals , Shannon well deserved the title Person Of The Match .
